Europe's railways without borders

Europas Eisenbahnen werden grenzenlos

The interoperability of the rail system in Europe

What are the best high-tech trains good for if they can run to the next border only - just in Europe, where the next border is not more than a few hundreds of kilometres away. The European Union, the Member States and institutions promote the harmonisation of the different railway systems in order to avoid that technical barriers obstruct the European-wide traffic in future. Interoperability is the key for competition and future chances of the rail system in the 21th century.

On the way to seamless freight and passenger traffic EISENBAHN-CERT has been the leading player for more than twenty years now. The German "Notified Body Interoperability" at the Federal Railway Authority in Bonn has issued more than 3500 certificates for rolling stock, infrastructures and their constituents until now.
