Navigation and service

The field of activity of the Energy unit of EISENBAHN-CERT starts at the overhead contact line, continues with the interface between overhead contact line and pantograph and ends at the interaction between traction current network and train. The Energy unit is also involved in the certificaton of the interoperability constituents pantograph, contact strips and energy measuring system as defined in the Rolling Stock subsystem.

Since the 1st of December 2002, when the TSI Energy came into force, the number of certificates for interoperability constituents and subsystems has increased up to more than 250 now. The first certificates for the interoperability constituent overhead contact line were issued to Siemens and Furrer+Frey already in December 2002.

At that time it was foreseeable that EISENBAHN-CERT will be acting Europe-wide. Constituents cerified by EISENBAHN-CERT are used in other EU Members States, as well as constituents from other countries are certified by EISENBAHN-CERT.

Remarkable projects were carried out in Spain and Switzerland. But also for the interface constituents pantograph and contact strips EISENBAHN-CERT could issue numerous certificates to well-known manufacturers.

The projects HSL ZUID (Northern and Southern section) in the Netherlands were an important highlight in the cerification of subsystems. The overhead contact line of the type SICAT H1.0 was certified beforehand for this project.

In all these projects EISENBAHN-CERT could demonstate its competitiveness in Germany and Europe, in particular as several lines for the German part of the trans-European high speed network had to be assessed and certified simultaneously.

All these projects could have been finished successfully due to the close cooperation with the associated partners, in particular DB Systemtechnik.

In Germany all verifications of subsystems for new and upgraded lines as well as connecting lines have been finished successfully with EC certificates.

The process of certification is currently carried out inter alia for the following projects:

  • German Unity Traffic Project 8.1 New Line/Upgraded Line Nuremberg - Ebensfeld - Erfurt
  • German Unity Traffic Project 8.2 New Line/Upgraded Line Erfurt - Halle/Leipzig
  • New Line/Upgraded Line Karlsruhe - Basel
  • Stuttgart 21
  • New Line Wendlingen - Ulm

With all these applications our customers appreciate the performance of EISENBAHN-CERT. On the other hand they are challenge to continuously improve the quality built up in the recent years and to implement the European processes for the interest of all participants effectively.
